This is the whole evolutionary cycle of writing this tune.
From its humble beginnings to the grand finale.
Spliced together from different versions of the song as it grew.
The music twists together like a dream. Nurturing reoccurring themes without end. Spiralling around , rising and falling , lost in vague and distant echoes , shamanic , ritualistic , mesmerising.
As new ideas form old ones fade and could have been forever forgotten.
I thought about the ideas I'd discarded , the hopes I originally had for the song at the very beginning.
so here it is ; every piece tied together and interlaced with the new.
A journey through the creative process and a bit more for good measure.
I hope you can enjoy it as much as I have making it .

Craig Fortnam is well known for being the creative mastermind behind names like "Shrubbies", "North Sea Radio Orchestra", "Arch Garrison", and, well, "Craig Fortnam", of course. He's from the big family of musicians and composers revolving around the cult band "Cardiacs", all of which share some undeniable and hard-to-describe common quality in their songwriting. "Instrumental Music 1" is quite some unspecific title for the wide range of unique avantgarde tracks he has released only recently. Sven B. Schreiber (sbs)
